Role: Team Leader - UASC
Salary: £26,686.40 - £28,558.40 (dependent on experience)

Overview:
As directed by the Registered Service Manager (RSM), to assist in the delivery of the services and be responsible for key working 16/17-year-old Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) within their own accommodation on a floating support basis to assist their transition into adulthood. Lone working daytimes, and occasional evenings and weekends as part of a weekly rota. To participate in the on-call duty rota, dealing with any issues that arise or escalating them as necessary. To support the RSM with any management tasks when required, including supervising staff within the service.
This role is based on a 40 hour per week, Monday to Friday, though some weekend, evening and bank holiday work may be required. Five hours every week are dedicated to administration tasks specifically related to this Team Leader role.
Key tasks in brief:
- Ensure that the accommodation and staff operate in full accordance with all statutory, regulatory standards and procedures
- Ensure all young people have their needs met, their welfare promoted at all times and that they are safeguarded from harm, abuse, neglect and exploitation
- Ensure all young people are supported to attend legal appointments with regards to their immigration status
- Act as keyworker to young people, ensuring that all relevant young people's records are concise and kept up to date in line with Juventas policies
- Work to a Service Rota to help ensure each young person receives 10 hours support per week
- Lead on effective multi-agency liaison with Social Workers, Solicitors, The Home Office, Personal Advisers, GP's, Looked After Children Nurses, Education staff and voluntary agencies, parents and carers
- Assist in supporting the referral and move-on processes and responding appropriately to requests for the service, within the context of Juventas Service policies
- Organise and support structured activities consistent with young people gaining Independent Living skills
- Respond to and record any safeguarding issues in relation to young people in line with Juventas policies
- Liaise in a professional manner at all times with neighbours and the local community
- Ensure a timely response to any young people's concerns
- Be part of an on-call rota with other Team Leaders within the service
Essential Requirements:
- Experience of working with children and/or young people
- Resilience, flexibility, and a 'can do' attitude
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Understanding of safeguarding, equality and diversity
- Strong organisational skills
- UK driving licence and your own vehicle
Ideal Requirements:
- Experience working with vulnerable children and young people
- Experience working with asylum seekers
- Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People or equivalent
